DU WOMEN’S LACROSSE GIVES BACK

October 17, 2017 By Team Up 4 Community Leave a Comment

DENVER— At the University of Denver and on the women’s lacrosse team, there is an emphasis that student-athletes represent the university in the classroom, on the field and in the community.

A month into the academic year, the Pioneers have volunteered at four different events throughout the Denver area, finding different causes and means to contribute.

On Sept. 9, the team went to Farrell B. Howell Elementary School to paint their playground.  Members encouraged the walkers at the 2017 Komen Colorado Race for the Cure on the morning of Sept. 24 when they volunteered at the event for the second year in a row. Later that week, on Sept. 28, DU participated in the Light the Night event sponsored by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, while the alumnae helped at the NEDA Walk to support Eating Disorder Awareness.

Last year, the lacrosse team was recognized for their community service at the Student-Athlete Awards Banquet, winning the coveted Gold Vest Award.  The Gold Vest is given annually to an outstanding Pioneer team for excellence in community service, academics, spirit, leadership and athletic performance.

Fans interested in making a donation to the women’s lacrosse program can do so by clicking here. Your contribution will make a direct impact on the success of YOUR Pioneers. Thank you in advance for your unwavering support of our student-athletes and their quest for excellence.
